This workshop will focus on enhancing the ability of disability service
providers and violence prevention advocates to Identify and respond to
violence against women with disabilities; to create culturally appropriate
responses for women with disabilities who may be experiencing violence; and
to foster relationships between disability service providers and domestic/
sexual violence prevention advocates, developing a resource and referral
base.

Participants who
attend this workshop will further be able to:
|
|
|
-- Identify the prevalence of violence against women with
disabilities;
|
|
|
-- Develop an understanding of domestic and sexual violence and
how this intersects with a woman’s disability;
|
|
|
-- Discuss screening and safety planning specific to women
with disabilities; and,
|
|
|
-- Develop collaborative partnerships and create prevention
oriented action plans.
|
Come with community partners, or establish new partners at the workshop. No
pre-existing working relationship necessary. Persons with all levels of
experience are encouraged to attend.
This workshop is offered to: disability service provider organizations and
consumers; domestic/sexual violence prevention advocates; public health
nurses; social workers; educators; justice/law enforcement; and others
interested in building capacity toward sustainable community solutions to
prevent violence against women with disabilities.

Providers Training of the Trainers
Let's work together to prevent domestic violence in our communities.
Discover how your disability service provider and domestic/sexual violence
prevention advocacy agency can share resources, outreach, educational
efforts, spiritual guidance, counseling, support services, and increase
collaboration to reduce domestic violence. Develop a strategic plan
outlining the next steps in preventing violence in your community!
These workshops, held in communities throughout California, are based on a
curriculum developed by TC-TAT, with guidance from the EPIC, titled "Freedom From
Violence: Preventing Domestic/Sexual Violence Against Women With
Disabilities: A Workshop for Domestic Violence Advocates and Disability
Service Providers", and are conducted by graduates of Transforming
Communities' Training
of Trainers Program.

workshops. the curriculum consist of a Trainers
Guide, A Workshop Resource Book and a PowerPoint Presentation or the
Trainers Guide. All materials will be available in CD format for accessibility.
