Collaboratives for Community Change (CCC)

Project Description:

Building on the success and momentum of the Faith in Violence-Free Families initiative (2003-2008) that brought faith leaders and DV advocates together to address DV in their communities, Collaboratives for Community Change (CCC) is taking the next step toward primary prevention of domestic violence within faith communities. Twelve teams of DV advocates and faith leaders from across the state participated in the first CCC Leadership Training in October, 2008 & another twelve participated in our training in May, 2009. Each cohort developed comprehensive action plans to implement a change in a local prevention policy, practice, procedure or protocol. These teams are paving the way for long term institutional and sustainable change in their communities by implementing changes in religious institutional and/or organizational policy, identifying prevention best practices and programs, and building collaborative prevention networks.

This project is funded by Blue Shield of California Foundation and is in partnership with California Department of Public Health’s Epidemiology and Prevention for Injury Control (EPIC) Branch
