Domestic Violence Prevention
Technical Assistance and Training
A
project of the California Department of Health Services, Maternal
and Child Health Branch,
Domestic Violence Section, Statewide Technical Assistance
and Training Project.
The Department
of Health Services, Maternal and Child Health Branch (MCH),
Domestic Violence Section has recently funded a new group
of contractors (along with their subcontractor partners) to
provide technical assistance and training, in relation to
specific component (or specialty) areas. TC-TAT received contracts
to carry out two of the components -- Prevention and Media
Advocacy. Together, the nine Statewide Technical Assistance
and Training (STAT) projects will support MCH-funded agencies
over the next three years. In the near future, you can find
more in-depth coverage of the STAT projects and their available
print and Internet resources on the SafeNetwork website, www.safenetwork.net.

Domestic
Violence Prevention:
Transforming Communities: Technical Assistance and Training
Project (TC-TAT) is pleased to have this opportunity to provide
support, information, training, and technical assistance in
community-based approaches to domestic violence prevention,
especially to MCH Domestic Violence Section-funded prevention
projects. Building on our work over the last three years,
TC-TAT will continue to offer intensive training Institutes,
as well as regional "cluster" workshops and on-site technical
assistance.

theoretical frameworks for prevention, prevention campaign planning,
building collaboratives and allies, working for institutional

Since
in 1997, TC's Technical Assistance Program has worked with
domestic violence organizations and allied agencies to promote
effective strategies to create safety and justice in diverse
communities. The Transforming Communities Training Curriculum
builds on the successful strategies carried out in TC projects
and incorporates research from the violence prevention and
social movement fields.
What
participants in TC Trainings Say:
"Possibly
the best spent time for me that I can remember."
"I realized
not only how important community involvement is, but how great
an impact the community can have when we help get the ball
rolling."
"We were
very impressed with the speakers, Marconi facility, and your
ability to organize such a needed campaign against male violence
and domestic abuse."
"I left
with a renewed sense of feminism, empowerment, and a broader
perspective on California's women's shelter services. Thank
you for allowing us to attend this life-transforming event."
