Transforming Communities:
Creating Safety and Justice for Women and Girls (TC)
was created
by Marin Abused Women's
Services (MAWS) in 1992 as a learning center for the advancement
of new thinking, practices and strategies to prevent violence against
women and girls.
 |
TC
seeks to change the prevailing knowledge, attitudes, beliefs, and
behaviors that support violence against women as a social and individual
norm. To this end, TC supports residents to take action on community
issues such as media violence, public accountability for batterers,
and equal opportunity. |
| Since
1997, Transforming Communities (TC) has also provided leadership,
training, technical assistance and resource materials to support
the expansion of domestic violence prevention efforts throughout
California. TC brings together theory and practice through statewide
Training Institutes, the dissemination of best practices, and the
development of innovative campaign materials. |
