Marin Abused Women's Services (MAWS) is a 22-year old, non-profit community organization working at the county, state and national level to end violence against women who are battered, or at risk of abuse. Through our program; including two 24-hour hotlines, all emergency shelter, a transitional housing program, community prevention and education projects, and a men's program, women, children and men are accessed knowledge and resources to achieve violence free lives.

In 1992, MAWS created a project called Transforming Communities Safety and Justice for Women and Girls, as a learning center for the advancement of new thinking and strategies to prevent violence against women and girls. The goal of the project is to promote a broad-based social movement which challenges the attitudes, beliefs and practices that cause and promote men's violence against women. TC projects mobilize volunteer community members into Community Action Teams (CATs) around specific action fields, to design and implement strategies to transform institutions, behaviors and belief systems in ways which hold violent men accountable and create safety and justice for women and girls.

In 1997, MAWS received funding to initiate the Transforming Communities Technical Assistance and Training Project (TC-TAT). TC-TAT Project works to involve domestic violence programs and allied organizations in a learning community about community mobilization strategies in order to further develop the statewide social change movement to prevent domestic violence. To do this, TC-TAT offers statewide training, ongoing technical assistance, networking, and a statewide Resource Center for the development, selection and promotion of prevention materials. Due to recent expansion, we have restructured the project and are now seeking a qualified person for the position of overall Project Manager for the TC-TAT project with responsibilities as listed below:
