"Making a difference
together."
"Activate and
organize your neighbors into making your block a 'Domestic Violence-Free
Zone.' "
The Neighbor
to Neighbor action kit provides resource materials and tools for
hosting a neighborhood block meeting focused on raising awareness
about domestic violence. Emphasizing the need to "make neighborhoods
safe both on the street and inside the home," the kit contains a
step-by-step guide for bringing neighbors together, suggestions
for activities that small neighborhood groups can undertake, sample
letters to the media, and a host of other resource materials that
can be used in homes or local businesses. Window signs advertising
"Safe Haven" inform abused women they can use the telephone at that
site to call for help. A video that dramatizes how friends and family
can support someone who is experiencing abuse is included in the
kit, along with a study guide that can be used to stimulate group
discussion of the film. A bibliography of other videos and books
about domestic violence is also part of the kit. The Neighbor to
Neighbor resource materials were designed for national distribution
and can be used in virtually any neighborhood across the country.
Recommended
for family members, friends, co-workers, and neighbors interested
in fostering domestic violence awareness and action through neighborhood
groups and local businesses.
