Flirting or Hurting? A Teacher's Guide To Student-To-Student Sexual Harassment In Schools
This highly adaptable curriculum manual offers teachers a rich and thought-provoking set of materials for engaging students in discussions and learning activities related to understanding and eliminating peer sexual harassment. The manual includes a set of classroom lesson plans suitable for social studies, health, psychology, or English composition classes. Classroom activities for students include interactive role plays, surveys, ethnographic research exercises and writing assignments--many designed to give students opportunities to practice creative, pro-active responses to incidents of sexual harassment. An array of interesting handouts and suggested classroom activities can be adapted by teachers to meet the needs of students of varying ages and levels of sophistication. Handouts include case studies and relevant legal information. Background notes for teachers include rulings from a Supreme Court case, summaries of sexual harassment laws, essays, news articles, tips on how to trouble-shoot difficult or challenging classroom situations, and a bibliography of additional resource materials. Lessons can be expanded over several weeks or condensed into two or three sessions.

Recommended for teachers of junior and senior high school students (Grades 6-12) who want to create a safe, respectful classroom environment and eliminate sexual harassment among students.
