The Deadly Connection: Facts On Domestic Violence For Drug and Alcohol Counselors

This pamphlet, designed for use by drug and alcohol abuse counselors, presents facts about the links between substance use and partner violence, together with guidelines for domestic violence screening and intervention. Tips for dealing with both victims and perpetrators of relationship abuse are included. Among the topics covered in the brochure are co-dependency, victim safety, and dynamics involved in domestic violence. Substance abuse counselors are encouraged to enlist the advice and support of domestic violence advocates and batterers' treatment program staff when clients reveal or acknowledge they are having problems with relationship abuse.
